‘Gag’ by Maleigh Zan’s is an Underground Smash Hit
Maleigh Zan is a model, actress, and performing artist from Savannah, Georgia who currently resides in Atlanta, Last November, she released her debut track entitled, ‘GAG’, which is described as Atlanta House Music, a subgenre of electronic dance music or EDM. The song has a deep and bouncing bass synth rift, a standard 4/4 drum beat, and adlib vocals that accompany Maleigh’s vocals. It has a dark vibe that you would hear at a club, runway, or nightlife scene. The overall sonic sound of ‘Gag’ takes influence from LGBTQIA+ music which is unsurprising considering Maleigh’s fashion industry background and Atlanta culture.
The response to Maleigh Zan and ‘Gag’ has been impressive, especially considering she’s a breakout artist. She currently has over 40,000 monthly listeners and a whopping 189,000 plays for ‘Gag’ on Spotify. Her label, We Push Art (stylized as WE PU$H ART), is doing a fantastic job getting ‘Gag’ in front of audiences. Moreover, the song was co-signed by producer and artist, Timbaland. However, the song’s success could not have happened without Maleigh’s saucy vocals and the track’s great vibe.
She told the hosts of Off The Porch that she wants to make music that people can relate to in addition to music that heals. Dance music can do that since it’s music that ‘moves’ and affects the body. Maleigh has a long and bright future of making healing music ahead of herself if she keeps making bangers like ‘Gag.’
