Diddy Sued by Cassie and Again by More Women

R&B singer Cassie (Cassandra Ventura) filed a lawsuit against producer and mogul Diddy (Sean Combs) with allegations of rape and human trafficking.

Cassie’s lawsuit provided a few instances of Diddy’s alleged activities. For example, Diddy forced Cassie to have sex with male prostitutes while he pleased himself and regularly plied her with drugs and alcohol while the two dated. Moreover, she alleges that Diddy consistenly beat her throughout their relationship and once forced himself into her apartment and onto her after a dinner, where they discussed separating.

Another incredible claim by Cassie alleges that Diddy threatened to blow up rapper Kid Cudi‘s car after learning of his and Cassie’s relationship. The lawsuit also claims that Kid Cudi’s car did blow up in his driveway in 2012.

Apparently, Diddy initially tried to settle with Cassie upon the news first breaking. However, Cassie and her team rejected Diddy’s initial offerings. Diddy’s attorneys put out the statement, “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations. For the past 6 months, Mr. Combs, has been subjected to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail. Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation and seeking a pay day.”

The dismissal of the lawsuit came after the two and their lawyers settled out of court. The terms of the settlement are unknown but it was dismissed with prejudice which means Cassie cannot charge Diddy again.

Cassie said, “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.” in her settlement announcement.

Diddy also made a statement and it read, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”

Diddy’s attorney, Ben Brafman informed news platform, TMZ, that the settlement was not an admission of guilt. He said, “Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing. Mr. Combs‘ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.”

Some pro-women netizens questioned why Cassie claimed to sue to bring awareness to women who faced similar struggles. The logic behind their questioning is that it makes more sense to bring charges against Diddy rather than to settle out of court for money. Moreover, the settlement came only one day after the lawsuit was filed.

Singer Aubrey O’Day also chimed in regarding this rhetoric. She wrote, “Money > accountability. Every time. Welcome to another chapter of the system is well in place.” She previously accused Diddy of unwanted sexual advances. The singer, like Cassie, was signed under Diddy’s Bad Boy record label.

More Women File Against Diddy

A woman named Joi Dickerson-Nea also filed a lawsuit with claims that the rapper was drugged and sexually assaulted. She alleges that the horrific event occurred when she was a college student at Syracuse University in 1991. Joi Dickerson-Nea filed the lawsuit under New York’s Adult Survivors Act which provided a one-year alleged victims of sexual assault to file a civil lawsuit even if the statute of limitations is up. The law ended on November 23 on Thanksgiving Day.

An anonymous woman filed a lawsuit against Diddy and singer-songwriter Aaron Hall under the name “Jane Doe.” She alleges that the two took turns raping her and her friend. The lawsuit goes on to allege that Diddy and Hall took the women to Hall’s apartment, where they coerced women into drinking and having sex.

Representatives of Diddy claim the lawsuits are frivolous and told TMZ that “this is purely a money grab and nothing more.”
