DaniLeigh Arrested on Hit and Run & DUI Charges
The unnamed victim sustained two non-life threatening injuries; a kidney laceration and a spinal fracture.
Danielle Curiel – better known as DaniLeigh – was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, early Tuesday morning on hit and run and DUI charges.
The singer was speedily weaving in lanes while driving a gray Mercedes-Benz when she hit a man on a moped and continued driving, according to the police report. Witnesses reported that she dragged the moped for about a block as they tried to get her attention, but she didn’t stop the car.
A bystander alerted an officer who eventually stopped DaniLeigh. Officials claimed they smelled alcohol from her and her vehicle, and eventually found an empty tequila bottle in her car. It appeared that DaniLeigh’s “motor skills were sluggish” and that she and her passenger were “highly intoxicated.” DaniLeigh insisted that “she never hit a motorist” and had not “consumed any alcoholic beverages” when arrested. She complied with taking several field sobriety tests, which she allegedly failed. Both individuals had hand restraints used on them for detainment.
Officials took her to Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation for driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash, and DUI damage to property. All three charges are felonies. The police report stated that DaniLeigh took two breathalyzer tests at the facility which resulted in breath alcohol levels of 0.145 and 0.148 – both are more than double the legal limit.
DaniLeigh did not receive care regarding the alleged crash with moped driver per the report. The unnamed victim sustained a kidney laceration and a spinal fracture. Both injuries are cited as non-life threatening.
Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation reported that she was detained in jail from 8:16 AM through 11:45 AM until released on a $9500 bond.
