Fans Make “RIP Takeoff” Trend on Social Media

Fans took to social media to show the talented rapper some real love.

November 1, 2023 marks exactly one year since Takeoff‘s untimely passing. The 28-year-old Lawrenceville rapper was killed by a stray bullet after an altercation at a bowling alley in Houston took a deadly turn. The “Bad and Boojee” artist first gained fame through his part in the rap group, the Migos, which contained rappers Quavo and Offset .

Since 2017, the rap group had the Hip Hop space in a chokehold for several years as one of the genre’s hottest acts. The group popularized the “Dab,” a dance move with origins in the Atlantic hip hop scene. The group went on hiatus at several points as each rapper in the group developed their solo acts.

At around 1:40 AM, fans got the phrase “RIP Takeoff” trending in “Music” with around 1600 posts on the social network X, formally known as “Twitter.” More posts that expressed remembrance and appreciative sentiments continued throughout the day even when the phrase was no longer trending on the platform.

X user Brain McKnight post one of his favorite videos as he wrote, “This is really one of my favorite videos on the internet. RIP TAKEOFF.”

Many people shared the same video of Quavo bopping behind a DJ controller as he deejayed because they loved his vibe along with the whole scenario.

Offset, 31 took the time to make a remembrance post regarding his Migos bandmate on X. He wrote, “#LL I keep the good memories in my head I love you bra”, as he shared a video of a small moment the two shared together.

Moreover, Offest made several stories on his Instagram in honor of Takeoff.

Quavo, 32, is Takeoff’s uncle and preferred to stay quiet on X regarding his beloved nephew who he lovingly referred to as “neph” as seen on their 2022 album, “Only Build For Infinity Links.” However, the ‘Hotel Lobby’ rapper posted a grayscale image of Takeoff on Instagram. The post reads’ “Can’t forget it won’t Forget It NEVER Forget it 🚀♾️ I Remember!”
