Kendrick Lamar Re-records Lyrics For Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood (Taylors Version)’

Rapper Kendrick Lamar has re-recorded his lyrics for singer Taylor Swift‘s version of ‘Bad Blood Remix’ showing that they still have “mad love” for one another. Taylor released both the regular and deluxe editions of her “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” on Friday, October 27. Hours after the album’s release, Taylor took to social media to express her bewilderment and appreciation for her fellow Grammy Award-winning artist.

“Watching @kendricklamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude, for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him. Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line ‘you forgive, you forget, but you never let it… go!’, I smiled.” The ‘Blank Space’ artist wrote with an accompanying picture of the two together along with a video of a concert crowd chanting his line.

Her post continued stating, “The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me. I’m overjoyed to say that the Bad Blood Remix (featuring Kendrick Lamar) is available everywhere on the 1989 Deluxe Edition.”

Although not as “well-known” as Taylor, Kendrick has over 46 million monthly listeners on Spotify and is a comparable worldwide talent. The ‘HUMBLE.’ rapper has a wife and two kids, has to travel, and is actively performing on tour. It’s “bewildering” that Kendrick would take the time out of his life to re-record his lyrics 9 years after the original’s release.

“1989 (Taylor’s Version) Deluxe”, where the remix of ‘Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version’),’ marks the fourth re-recorded album of the ‘Clean’ pop star. Taylor Swift is on her journey to take back her music by providing her own versions of songs that she has previously recorded. This is because the pop sensation doesn’t own the master recordings of any songs she recorded before 2019, including major hits such as “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “Shake It Off.”
